In depth look into this weeks Torah portion

Parsha in 60 Seconds Presents Va’eira

Parsha 14

Shalom and welcome to the Parsha in 60 seconds Today’s portion is from Exodus 6:2-9:35 it is called Va’eira which means “and I appeared” God speaks to Moses and shares His plan to save His people but the Israelites would not listen God tells Moses to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go, but Moses kvetches about public speaking because his “speech impediment” so Aaron becomes is voice. God would harden Pharaoh’s heart, so that God might show signs and marvels. The first meeting did not go so well as both Aaron and pharaoh’s priests threw down rods and had an epic snake battle. Pharaoh’s heart stiffened. God sent ten plagues on Egypt which had direct connection with the Egyptian gods. God turned the Nile into blood killing all the fish; infested Egypt with frogs, lice, swarms of locus; struck the Egyptian’s livestock with a pestilence; caused boils on man and beast throughout Egypt, sent thunder and hail, which struck down all exposed in Egypt. Pharaoh confessed his wrong, agreed to let the Israelites go, and asked Moses and Aaron to pray to end the hail. Moses did so, but Pharaoh reverted to his guilty ways. OR DID HE! And that is Va’eira in 60 seconds.
